Creation Station June Blog Hop - Beach Life

 Hello and welcome,

My name is Vicki Boucher, and I am from Melbourne, Australia. This is the latest hop with the design team at Creation Station, if you have come from Denita Wright or you may have started with me. Please make sure you hop around and see everyone's amazing projects. I'll pop a link at the end of my blog.

The design team at Creation Station are presenting their projects with the theme "Beach Life" this was a fun challenge to do. I had the opportunity to create a card with this theme using a mix of different Stampin' Up! products.

It is the start of winter here in Australia so there's something special about going to the beach when it's cold. Personally, I love to walk along the beach and pick up seashells or what the sunrise. Well, I'll be doing that in just over two weeks and I can't wait!

I created a wintery card by the beach for a friend who'll be turning 60 years old and she just loves the beach. I've used a few different Stampin' Up! tools and products for this card. The colours are a soft palette which are Pool Party, Coastal Cabana, Fresh Freesia, Pecan Pie and Crumb Cake.

The background watercolour panel is a wash using Pool Party, Coastal Cabana and Clear Wink of Stella. I like to mix the ink with water and Clear Wink of Stella in the ink well of the Stampin' Pad, then apply to the Watercolor Paper with the brush. Let it dry before adding all of the elements.

I used the seashell and leaf image from the Season of Chic Stamp Set stamped in VersaMark onto Basic White Cardstock, add White Stampin' Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool. Then to create a emboss resist technique I used the Blending Brush with Fresh Freesia and then Pecan Pie ink to the images. I also combined Pool Party and Pecan Pie to some of the images. Then die-cut out with the Chic Dies.

I just love to use different tools from different sets, so I've combined the Chic Dies, Seaside Bay Dies, Give it a Whirl Dies and Alphabet A La Mode Dies to form this card. The main seashell is watercolor wash in Fresh Freesia onto Watercolor Paper. The two stitched hearts are a wash as well in Fresh Freesia for the tiny heart and Pool Party for the other heart.

The crosshatch pattern tool from the Chic Dies is great for the background, I used Pecan Pie ink for a watercolor wash. It's such a pretty color to use. I couldn't resist without using the More Dazzle 6 x 6 Specialty Paper in champagne for the snowflakes. It's my go to and I just love to add some sparkle to my projects.

I added a torn strip of paper from the Earthen Elegance Designer Series Paper and layered it under the Natural Wavy Trim which adds some texture to your project. I really like how it weaves together and it looks like rope.

To finish off the card I used Fresh Freesia Cardstock layered over Foam Adhesive and die-cut out using the numbers. The sentiment is from the Something Fancy Stamp Set stamped onto Crumb Cake Cardstock with Versamark, White Stampin' Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool. Then die-cut out using the label die from the Give it a Whirl Dies. The embellishments are from the Tinsel Gems in Fresh Freesia and Lost Lagoon.
