Creation Station Blog Hop - Ink Blending

My name is Vicki Boucher, and I am from Melbourne, Australia. This is the latest hop with the design team at Creation Station, if you have come from Sara Langland or you may have started with me. The design team at Creation Station are presenting their projects with the theme "Ink Blending" this would have to be one of my favourite ways to use inks and trying out different techniques.

The Stampin' Up! products I've used for both cards are Artistically Inked Stamp Set, Artistic Dies, True Beauty Stamp Set and Organic Beauty Dies. The colours are shades of blues and purples which I just love and trying out different combinations is always fun!

To create these images, use the Stamparatus with Basic White Cardstock, ink pads and Blending Brushes. First use the ink pad in a lighter colour this way you can add more colours to the stamp as you go. Then with the Blending Brush add another colour and when you just want a little bit of colour I used the Mini Blending Brushes. You have more control. 

Here I've used Tahitian Tide, Orchid Oasis and a little of Starry Sky Inks for the top images and Fresh Freesia, Gorgeous Grape and Orchid Oasis Inks for the bottom row.

Now for the inked-up background panel this is something I haven't done before, but I was reading a tutorial from Tami Hewlett where she created this background layer using Basic White Cardstock, ink with Blending Brushes and splatter water droplets onto the cardstock. I've only ever used Shimmery White Cardstock and I was so surprised that it worked! I just love it and I created two panels. 

The colours I used for the blue slimline card are Tahitian Tide, Pacific Point, Orchid Oasis, Starry Sky and Night of Navy. I started with the lighter colour and worked my way through until I blended all of the colours together. Then I dipped my fingers into a bowl of water and flicked the water onto the inked-up panel. I really like how it worked against the darker colours. The higher you flick the water the smaller the droplets will be. 

For the leaves both stamped and delicate die-cut leaves I used Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay. The sentiment is heat embossed and I added Pastel Sequins in Balmy Blue.

The colours for the second card background panel are Tahitian Tide, Fresh Freesia, Orchid Oasis, Gorgeous Grape and Starry Sky. I used the same technique again with the water droplets and flicked the water onto the inked-up Cardstock. I also used the Heat Tool to dry them up quickly.

The colours for the detailed die-cut piece under the flowers are Night of Navy, Starry Sky, Orchid Oasis, Pacific Point and Tahitian Tide. I added the colours using the Blending Brush and applied the inks onto Basic White Cardstock and then die-cut the image out. For the leaves I used the Stamparatus and applied Orchid Oasis and Starry Sky with the Blending Brush to create a soft colour.

I added Pastel Sequins in Petal Pink and for some of them I coloured them in using Fresh Freesia Stampin' Blend.

Stamping Sunday Blog Hop As the Season Turns

It's Stamping 2nd Sunday latest blog hop for October, hosted by Sara Levin and for this month the design team will be showcasing the theme 'As the Season Turns' in our projects. The list of participants will be at the end of this blog.

Today's projects are a handmade birthday card and 3D Mini Paper Pumpkin Box using Stampin' Up! products from the Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue 2021 - 2022. I've used the beautiful Artistically Inked Bundle which is a favourite of mine and it's been awhile since I last used this bundle. I was totally inspired by the lovely Tammi Hewlett with her beautiful Artistically Inked projects which she created for the Artisan Design Team earlier this year. I just had to CASE her Mini Paper Pumpkin Box. 

The season is certainly turning here in Melbourne, Australia it's Spring now and there's so many stunning flowers in their abundance. The smell of fresh flowers brightens up my day when I go for a walk with my family. The days are getting longer too with daylight savings started last weekend for us in the Southern Hemisphere.

Fun Fold Birthday Card

I love creating this type of fun fold card, I've made a few this year and it's my daughter's birthday coming up later on this month. Her favourite colours are shades of purples and blues, so I've used Gorgeous Grape and Pacific Point with a little of Night of Navy Ink. 

Anything is possible with the stamps from the Artistically Inked Stamp Set, I just love to create with this stamp set so much! I've used the unique watercolor stamp for the background panels by stamping off so the image is light and I can always add more colour as I go. Using the Blending Brush I've lightly added ink to the panel giving it an Ombre look.

To create the flower images from the stamp set, I've used the Stamparatus and applied ink using the Blending Brush. It's best to start off light and then you can always add more ink as you go. I love this technique as you can achieve different shades with the one colour. The larger flower I've added a little of Night of Navy ink to give it more detail and depth.

For the front panel and base layer for the flowers. I've used the large scalloped stitched die from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies and added Gorgeous Grape ink with the Blending Brush.

The detailed flower die-cut image is in Basic White and sits nicely over the large blue flower. The greeting and smaller flowers finish off the card. I wanted to add some embellishments and the Pastel Pearls in shades of Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather was perfect! Plus it's my daughter's middle name Pearl.

Card Base - Thick Basic White Cardstock -  

Cut at 21cm x 14.9cm

Score and fold at 5.5cm, 8.5cm, 12.5 and 15.5cm

Panels - Basic White Cardstock -

Cut two at 14.4cm x 5cm each

Cut middle piece at 14.4cm x 3.5cm

3D Mini Paper Pumpkin Box

The white Mini Paper Pumpkin Boxes are perfect for gift giving and they are food safe as well. They come in a pack of ten and are easy to put together and don't need adhesive. 

Starting with the bottom layer in Gorgeous Grape Cardstock and layering a panel in Basic White Cardstock. Using Gorgeous Grape ink I've stamped the watercolor stamp multiple times and added ink with the Blending Brush. 

The images of the flowers are the same as the card, using the same technique with the Blending Brushes and Stamparatus. The larger flower has more darker blues using more Night of Navy ink. 

The detailed dies from the Artistic Dies are in Basic White Cardstock layered underneath the stamped images and White Glittered Organdy Ribbon. I've added more of the Pastel Pearls and lots of Clear Wink of Stella to create lots of shimmer to the box. 

I didn't add a greeting to the Mini Paper Pumpkin Box as I think it looks nice as a keep sake box and it will be perfect for my daughter to place her jewellery inside the box.

Colour Creations Blog Hop Bumblebee

Tonight I'll be sharing with you Week 7 of Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team in Australia. 

Each week there will be a Colour Creations blog hop showcasing Stampin' Up! Colors with a selection of members from the Art With Heart Team who will be joining in. The colour for tonight is Bumblebee which is part of the In Color Collection for 2020 - 2022 and comes in a number of different mediums such as Ink, Cardstock, DSP etc....I've used Bumblebee with Basic White, Basic Black and Gold for my two handmade cards.

I have to confess that I only created these two cards this morning and I had no idea what I was going to create until I saw the striped Gold and White paper from the Expressions in Ink Designer Series Paper looking at me. I just had to use the Artistically Inked Bundle to go with the paper.

It's a cold wet day here in Melbourne and Bumblebee is the perfect colour to brighten up someone's day! For my first card I've used Shimmery White Cardstock, die cut out using the larger flower and leaves detailed die from the Artistic Dies. 

Then using a Water Painter I used the wide brush tip and applied Bumblebee Ink to the image. I also added another smaller section from the detailed die to the card.

I used a panel of Vellum to dull down the bold Gold and White paper leaving some exposed either side. The sentiment is stamped in Bumblebee Ink on a strip of Basic White Cardstock, layered over Bumblebee Gingham Ribbon.

As I still had lots of ideas in my head, I decided to create another card using a side strip of the Gold and White paper. This time I created water colour effect on watercolor paper. 

First I added water with the wide brush tip adding Bumblebee Ink and then I started blowing it with an ear syringe making the ink going in different directions. I would also dry the ink with the Heat Tool and then repeat the process. I've splattered Black Ink using the dark Stampin' Blend brush tip against the lid.

I've used Black/White Baker's Twine from the Playful Pets Trim Combo Pack. I always love adding black and white to my projects when it comes to using any of the yellows from Stampin' Up! 

The sentiment in Memento Black Ink on Basic White Cardstock and layered over a strip of Basic Black Cardstock. I could of even made another card but time was running out for me.

Colour Creations Blog Hop Blushing Bride

Tonight I'll be sharing with you Week 6 of Colour Creations Blog Hop with the Art With Heart Team in Australia.

The colour for tonight is Blushing Bride which is part of the Subtles Collection and comes in a number of different mediums such as Ink, Cardstock, DSP etc....I've used Blushing Bride with Early Espresso and Balmy Blue for my handmade card.

I've created a vintage/shabby chic style card to show off Blushing Bride by using Ink, Cardstock, Designer Series Paper and Ink Blending Technique. I love to use layers and textures when it comes to this style of card. 

I was inspired by a couple of paper crafters which I follow on Instagram and I really like how they used the three flower watercolour images and coordinating dies from the Artistically Inked Bundle. Emma from @Coastalcrafter recently used the flower crunching technique, adding layers and giving depth to her card. Sandra from @sandra_helbel_dieburg creates amazing cards and she too used this technique.

Another amazing crafter is Tammy from @Stampspaperscissors an Artisan for Stampin' Up! used the In Good Taste Designer Series Paper with the Artistically Bundle. I love this wood look with this bundle. I've embossed the DSP using a new Timeworn Type 3D Embossing Folder from the Mini July - August 2021 Stampin' Up! Catalogue. When it comes to vintage cards I like to rough up the edges of the paper with my paper snips.

The beautiful floral Brushing Bride paper is from the Hand-Penned Designer Series Paper. This DSP as well as In Good Taste DSP is on sale from 1st July until 2nd August 2021 with 15% discount. There are a total of 9 Designer Series Paper on sale, more details below and on my online store.

For the leaves and butterfly I've used Basic White Cardstock, inked up the Cardstock using Blushing Bride and Balmy Blue Ink with the Blending Brush. Then using the leaf die from Artistic Dies and the butterfly from the Brilliant Wings Dies to die-cut them out.

I've added White Baker's Twine and the greeting stamped in Balmy Blue on a strip of Basic White Cardstock.

Global Design Project #298 Sketch Challenge

  

Hello and welcome,

I've entered myself into the latest Sketch Challenge #298 over at Global Design Project which is always a lot of fun. The design team create amazing projects, so make sure you check out all of their handmade creations. I'm sure they will inspire you!

Today's birthday card is for my Dad who'll be turning 81 this year and this sketch challenge was perfect for his card. I've created a unique background using Stampin' Blends, rubbing alcohol and a panel of Vellum. I've used a mix of Night of Navy, Misty Moonlight and Balmy Blue Stampin' Blends.

You need pure alcohol to make it work as it needs to be more than 90% I've used Isopropyl alcohol with a paint brush and ear syringe to help blow the alcohol around the vellum. This was a fun technique and I highly recommend you give it a try. Let me know how you go.

By placing a panel of Basic White Cardstock behind the sheet of Vellum this makes the colours pop from the card. 

I've used the Artistically Inked Bundle for some of the layers. The strip of Cardstock in Basic White stamping the watercolour stamp images in Night of Navy Ink onto the strip randomly and adding Pacific Point Ink with the Blending Brush. 

To create the detailed leaves images which are from the Artistic Dies, using the Blending Brush I've applied Night of Navy Ink lightly onto Pacific Point Cardstock.

The sentiment is from the Biggest Whish Stamp Set stamped in Night of Navy Ink onto Basic White Cardstock. Heat embossed using White Stampin' Powder onto Night of Navy Cardstock and fussy cut out. I like the light and dark colours this gives you contrast with the happy birthday greeting.

Creation Station June Blog Hop - In Colors Floral Frenzy Mash Up

 

Hello and welcome,

Today's projects for June 2021 Creation Station blog hop is all about 'In Colors Floral Frenzy Mash Up' using Stampin' Up! products. Using only the In Colors and white for our projects, plus anything that is floral, which Stampin' Up! have a number of different bundles/stamp sets in both the Mini and Annual Catalogue. 

I wonder what the others from the team will be using? If you've started with me make sure you complete the hop by visiting Kathy Brown Kartak's blog, she always makes amazing projects. I'm so looking forward to seeing all of the other design Team Members projects, so make sure you click on the next button at the bottom of my blog. 

I've created three cards using the Artistically Inked Bundle which is on page 96 - 97 in the Stampin' Up! 2021 - 2022 Annual Catalogue. This bundle is amazing, I especially love the large flower and leaves detailed die which is part of the Artistically Dies.

 

The new In Colors for 2021 to 2023 are so beautiful they are Polished Pink, Fresh Freesia, Pale Papaya, Soft Succulent and Evening Evergreen. These In Colors are available in the latest 2021 - 2022 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue.

For my first card I've used the images from the stamp set starting with the largest image in Fresh Freesia then Polished Pink for rose image, Soft Succulent for the leaves, Pale Papaya for the trio and Evening Evergreen for the tiny dots. 

I've added a strip of Pale Papaya Ribbon under the sentiment plus a few more roses and leaves. The card base is in Fresh Freesia Cardstock.

For my next card, I've used the large flower and leaves detailed die in Basic White Cardstock and added ink using the Blending Brushes in all of the In Colors. I've used contrasting colours to the Basic White panel using the Blending Brushes to highlight the die cut image. I really like Fresh Freesia against Pale Papaya for the large flower. 

The Stampin' Blends are available in the In Colors 2021 - 2023, I've used them to splatter ink onto the coloured panel before adding the die cut piece to the card.

The card base is Pale Papaya Cardstock and then a panel of Fresh Freesia In Color 2021 - 2023 6" x 6" DSP. 

The sentiment is layered over a strip of Pale Papaya DSP and to finish off the card I've added a few of the Flower Flourishes which come in three of the In Colors.

The last card is using the large flower & leaves die but this time I've used Fluid 100 Watercolor Paper and I applied the In Colors using the Water Painters. Once dried I then added the Fine Tip Glue Pen to the coloured die cut piece this gives it a shiny/glossy look. 

The 2021 - 2023 In Colors come in 12" x 12" Shimmer Vellum, I've used a panel in Soft Succulent and adhered it to the panel of Basic White Cardstock. I've stamped the sentiment a number of times onto the Basic White panel in Even Evergreen Ink. 

I've wrapped White Baker's Twine around the panels and added the sentiment with Dimenisals. The card base is Soft Succulent Cardstock and to finish off the card I've placed the In Color Jewels in Soft Succulent and Pale Papaya.
